TEMMA GENTLES: “The essence of my art is storytelling. The stories originate in personal experiences, treasured anecdotes of my clients, or the richness of secular and religious literature. It is challenging to integrate themes and materials, so that the piece stands on its own aesthetically, while functioning as an object in a particular setting. A strong academic background (M.A. University of Toronto), extensive design training (Ontario College of Art), a repertoire of textile techniques, and enormous curiosity enable me to respond creatively to a variety of challenges. Undoubtedly the many hours spent with my grandparents in their ladieswear store was formative. I delight in carrying on their inspiration of beautiful craftsmanship to enhance and celebrate life.” Visit temmagentles.com to find out more.
