Joan Macneil 1927-2011

JOAN MACNEIL, a long-time TMC Volunteer, passed away on March 6.

Joan and her life partner, Tony Tudin, gave many hours to the H. N. Pullar Library. Tony, who predeceased Joan, worked quietly behind the scenes repairing and rebinding books while Joan welcomed visitors in her ever gracious manner, helping them to find materials for their research. Joan was also very active in the early years of the Volunteer Committee, assisting in drawing up the first set of by-laws and in fundraising projects. Joan and Tony travelled frequently, often to Joan’s native Australia, and always returned with books as gifts to the library.

Both Joan and Tony discontinued volunteering about eight years ago, but they kept in touch by phone and were always interested in the latest news from the Museum. Their generosity was of immense value to the Textile Museum and will certainly be remembered.
