The Textile Museum of Canada held its annual general meeting on Sept. 27, 2011. Here are highlights from the report of the Volunteer Committee:
• 150 TMC Volunteers worked 14,736 hours during the past year – equal to 8.2 full-time employees.
• Volunteer positions include: Reception desk, Museum shop, library, docents, educators, preparing exhibitions, hospitality, recruiting new volunteers, volunteer and community communication and promotion, management and execution of fundraising sales.
• Volunteers, who are also talented artists, contributed 9 shadow boxes to this year’s Shadow Box fundraising event.
• Volunteers held 3 major fundraising events in 2011: More Than Just a Yardage Sale, For the Love of Cloth Decorator Fabric Sale and Bargain Bolts.
